Monday Milwaukee Mystery - March 8, 2010

Postby Yance » Mon Mar 08, 2010 9:23 pm

Here is another Milwaukee Mystery photo and for anyone familiar with the city's train system of the past, this should be easy. How's that for a big hint? This was in the late 1950s and is probably all that needs to be said so will leave it at that. Good luck in your guessing!

I'll guess 25th between St. Paul and Clybourn.

I like the 25th St overpass guess.

But just for fun, lets put another horse in the race...

Prospect Avenue, between Woodstock and Windsor?

No, i can't be on the eastside. This is obviously a railroad right of way, but Prospect/Windsor is the former Chicago and North Western; this is an electric railroad, so it must be The Milwaukee Electric. This is a good one, Yance.

jasondavies has the correct answer. This was taken in the late fifties after the demise of the electric line and before the construction of the freeways.

I could have sworn it was 26th street... time for an old aerial image.. Yance is there an uncropped version of this picture?

edit: I forgot that the 25th street bridge was that much of a slope.
