Chicago Lake Shore Depot 1885

This is an illustration from an 1885 book called, Souvenir of Chicago by Adolph Wittemann. The duotone illustration shows the Lake Shore & M.S. and C.R.I. & P. Depot on Van Buren and Randolph Sts. The book has dozens of beautiful illustrations of buildings and views of the old Chicago. I will post more as I get a chance.

This was the location of the later depot/office building called LaSalle Street Station. Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint filmed a scene here for "North by Northwest". I'm sure other things happened here, but that's all I've got just now.
