Building History Detail
MECCA Convention Center

The Milwaukee Exposition and Convention Center or MECCA hall was built at a cost of $15 million. It had a total of 132,000 square feet of exhibition space and the Great Hall was the largest exhibition space with 66,000 square feet and a 45 foot high ceiling. Critics described it as a "beached aircraft carrier" due to its massive size which covered nearly two city blocks. The exterior was covered with brown bricks on the lower half and white panels on the upper half. A skywalk connected it to the Arena to the north and to the parking structure to the east.
