Carpenter Building

A seven story building with 150 feet of frontage on Grand Avenue and 200 feet on Sixth Street. It was built of fireproof steel concrete and terra cotta in mottled cream tones. This building also housed Saxe's Wisconsin Theater which opened on March 28, 1924 and had seating for 3,500 people. The theater was designed by CW and George L Rapp. A large ballroom was built on the top floor of the building which was a popular entertainment spot for many years. The theater portion was demolished in 1974.
