Building History Detail
Gipfel Building

A three story brick building built in the pre Civil War Federal-style. More commonly known as the Gipfel Union Brewery building due to it's history as the home of the independent brewery established by Charles Gipfel and in operation until the 1890s. It was later home to Elsner Leather. The building was moved in 2007 to a temporary location on North 3rd Street on land formerly occupied by the Park East freeway. It was finally demolished in November 2009 without any attempt at renovation.
